Sacramental Preparation
for Children and Youth (English)
Our Sacramental Preparation sessions run from October
through May. We ask that participants and their
families:
-
be registered in
the parish
-
participate in
monthly Generations of Faith sessions
-
attend Sunday
Mass on a weekly basis
Registration deadline
for 2008-2009 is September 21, 2008.
1st
Reconciliation/1st Communion
Our
1st Communion preparation is changing from 1
year to 2 years in length. Parents of children in 1st
grade should enroll their children in Pre-Sacraments.
Children in 2nd grade may enroll in either
Pre-Sacraments (2 yr. prep.) or Sacraments (1 yr.
prep.). Children in 3rd grade should enroll
in Sacraments (1 yr. prep.). After this year (2008-09),
all children will be required to complete 2 years of
preparation before receiving the Sacrament of 1st
Communion.
Pre-Sacraments (grades 1 and 2)

Family participation in Generations of Faith
sessions one Sunday a month.
o
Pre-Sacraments sessions on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.
o
Weekly Mass attendance.
o
Submit proof of Catholic Baptism.
Sacraments (grades 2 and 3)
o
Family participation in Generations of Faith
sessions one Sunday a month.
o
Sacraments sessions on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.
o
Weekly Mass attendance.
o
Submit proof of Catholic Baptism.
o
One
Saturday morning retreat before the celebration of each
sacrament (2 total).
o
Celebration of 1st Reconciliation in March.
o
Celebration of 1st Communion in May.

Rite of Christian
Initiation for Children and Youth
Two year preparation
for unbaptized children ages 7 and up, and baptized,
uncatechized children in grades 4 and up.
Unbaptized children/youth prepare for the sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation and 1stCommunion.
Baptized, uncatechized children/youth prepare for the
sacraments of 1st Reconciliation,
Confirmation and 1st Communion.
Year 1: Inquiry
o
Family participation in Generations of Faith
sessions one Sunday a month.
o
RCIA Inquiry sessions on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.
o
Weekly Mass attendance.
o
Submit proof of Baptism (if applicable).
o
Celebrate Rite of Welcome and Acceptance in April.
Year 2: Catechumenate
o
Completion of Inquiry year (year 1).
o
Family participation in Generations of Faith
sessions one Sunday a month.
o
RCIA Catechumenate
sessions on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.
o
Weekly Mass attendance.
o
Celebration of the sacraments in late February or at
Easter Vigil (April).
