FAITH FORMATION (CHILDREN)

Religious Education Coordinator

            Acts as a liaison between the Director of Religious Education, Youth Director, Catechists and Assistants.  Meets with Directors and other Coordinators to help commission plan the annual calendar, curriculum, community service projects, activities and events.  Assists in planning and coordinating special activities and events.  Helps support the Catechists and Assistants in regard to training and planning.  Lynne Elzinga   Ext. 12

Religious Education Cathechist

            Plan and present one-hour faith formation lessons for a specific age group (curriculum provided).  Plan lessons, games, crafts, songs, prayers and other faith based learning activities.  Enhance student knowledge of our faith while passing on the Catholic faith traditions. Choose to work with Children’s Liturgy of the Word or Rite of Christian Initiation for Children or Preschool, Elementary, or Junior/Senior High students. Lynne Elzinga Ext. 12

Religious Education Cathechist Assistant

            Assist the lead catechist with preparing and presenting one-hour faith formation lessons for a specific age group.  Assist with classroom set-up and clean up, lesson activities, student attendance and discipline. Choose to work with Children’s Liturgy of the Word or Rite of Christian Initiation for Children  or Preschool, Elementary, or Junior/Senior High students. Lynne Elzinga

Sacramental Preparation Team

            Work as a group to plan sacramental preparation programs for First Communion, First Reconciliation and/or Confirmation.  Assist with preparations for parent meetings, notices in the parish bulletin, special banners, posters and/or displays, prayer partner programs, retreats and sacrament celebration.  Lynne Elzinga Ext. 12

Sacrament "Prayer Partners"

            Pray for a student preparing to receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation and/or First Communion over a one to two month period.  Send weekly notes of faith and encouragement, small religious mementos or surprises.  Meet with your student at a special luncheon celebration.  Lynne Elzinga, Ext. 12

Office Assistant

            Assist weekly or on a project-by-project basis with clerical duties.  Process student attendance folders, make phone calls to students and parents, run copies, sort items, assist with bulletin board displays.  Lynne Elzinga, Ext. 12

Teen Hospitality

            Assist Youth Director with planning, preparation and service of weekly beverages and snacks for the youth program on Sunday evenings.  Terri Bernards Ext. 20

Social Activities

            Assist Youth Director and Catechists with planning and making preparations for teen social activities and outings and/or assist as a chaperone or driver for a specific teen event.  Terri Bernards, Ext. 20

Community Service Projects

            Assist Director of Religious Education and Youth Director with planning and coordinating annual religious education community service projects.  Lynne Elzinga, Ext. 12

Special/Seasonal Art Projects

            Assist Director of Religious Education and Youth Director with special and/or seasonal art banners, posters, displays or student projects. This presents the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys art and crafts. Lynne Elzinga, Ext. 12

Summer Activities/Vacation Bible School

            Assist the Director of Religious Education in planning, preparing, coordinating and/or presenting children’s summer activity hours or a ½ day week long Vacation Bible School in June, July or August 2002.  Lynne Elzinga, Ext. 12
